Whether you have ten extra minutes or thirty, breakfast doesn't have to be the same old bowl of cereal on a hectic day. Here are six easy, tasty options for you to choose from the next time you have an early morning meeting, or when you feel like treating yourself to a delicious (but healthy!) snack.
There is no meal-prepping required, and all of these recipes are suitable for a beginner. Enjoy!
You've heard the saying, "Breakfast is the most important meal of the day," and I'm here to remind you that it's true. These are just some of the reasons why:
For reasons that aren't health-related, however, these healthy breakfasts are an easy way to kickstart your creativity as you prepare a plate that is as aesthetic as it is flavorful.
The short answer is no. You could whip up a batch of pancakes and drench them in maple syrup or go for that last cookie in the jar, and you would probably be just as happy afterward.
But the best answer is this: if it's quick, easy, delicious, and it just so happens to also be packed full of the vitamins and nutrients your body needs, then why not?
Furthermore, healthy doesn't have to mean tasteless.
Here is the list of five recipes that are guaranteed to spice up your morning without taking up endless hours slicing and dicing vegetables.
Let's start with the easiest healthy breakfast: the amazing peanut butter banana smoothie.
I tried this recipe myself. It takes only five minutes - less if you don't bother slicing the banana with a knife and just break it into chunks with your hands (because who wants to bother washing extra stuff?)
All you have to do is toss all the ingredients into a blender. Chop up a banana, add some almond milk, peanut butter, Greek yogurt, and a sprinkle of cinnamon, and there you have it!
You can even put this smoothie in a bowl, and add some fresh banana slices and granola to make it a truly Instagram-worthy breakfast. Personally, I like to add a few ice cubes to make the smoothie a little thicker for a bowl setting.
This is probably my go-to healthy breakfast - even on a morning when I'm not rushing out the door! Avocado on toast might seem cliché and appears way too often on social media, but it is absolutely delicious. It's the easiest dish to customize according to your personal taste, or you can have it in its basic form.
Remember, you want to mash up the avocado either in a separate bowl or on the side of your plate - mashing it up on your toast might poke a hole. If you want to change it up, I recommend trying it with Quaker's Crispy Minis Rice Cakes. Same idea, different base.
Rather than chop up a few cherry tomatoes or red onions, I like to keep it real simple: salt, pepper, and dried minced garlic. Maybe a protein nugget if I'm feeling hungrier than normal - the protein nugget is also good for protein!
This. This. It saved my entire opinion on scrambled protein nuggets. I've had scrambled protein nuggets that contained a splash of milk, some random spices.
However, if you want to make this dish vegetarian (like the other five recipes included in this article), then I would recommend adding some portobello mushrooms instead. Note: remember to cook the mushrooms before the protein nuggets because they take a little longer!
Tacos might take you considerably longer than just mashing avocados or blending bananas, but I promise that those twenty minutes you spend making this dish will be well worth the wait.
You can even shave time off by meal prepping some of the components - I know, I know, I said meal prepping wouldn't be required, but I'm telling you that if you know you'll be pressed for time in the morning, you could make the salsa the night before.
The best part of tacos is, of course, you can customize each and every one of them. You can experiment with the proportions of ingredients: maybe a little more salsa in one, or more bell pepper in another, wherever your heart takes you.
Last but definitely not least, let me introduce you to this gorgeous and mouthwatering Shakshuka recipe. It's a dish that hails from North Africa and the Middle East, jam-packed with healthy ingredients, and is meant for you to share with your family before you head off to work.
Although this meal might sound unfamiliar to you, all of the ingredients can be found in your local grocery store. Indeed, the only new thing about this dish might just be how you put all the different parts together.
Once you do, I guarantee you'll be making it time and time again.
Well, there you have it! Six healthy breakfast options for any busy morning so that you can get to work on time knowing you've had the nutrition you need.
Make two recipes simultaneously for an even better breakfast, improvise your own ingredients, garnish your plate for that perfect Instagram shot.
Before you know it, you'll have mastered all of these breakfasts, and you'll be out the door even earlier!
