How To Manage Your Time Effectively During Umrah?

Time is the important consideration for every aspect of life. Time matters a lot from managing your schedule to making decisions in life. 

However, if we talk about Umrah, you will also need to make a schedule for day to day activities. Managing time effectively will not only enhance your spiritual experience but allows you to perform Umrah effectively. Keep in mind that Umrah is not just only a physical demanding journey but also meticulous planning and time management. By following this text, it will not just gives you tips for smooth Umrah trip but you can make a schedule list for activities during pilgrimage.

Let’s Make a Schedule for Umrah Rituals:

Here we will allocate time for the day of Umrah performance. It just has only four rituals that can easily be conducted by any Muslim.

Allocating time for each ritual:-

1. Ihram – This is the first step of Umrah performance that every pilgrim have to follow. Ihram is an attire specifically made for pilgrims. It’s also known as the state of purity. You can wear Ihram when you are making departure or during your flight but you can’t wear Ihram in Makkah. It’s best to allocate 2 to 3 hours for Ihram before going to Makkah.

2. Tawaf – When reaching Masjid al-Haram, you will perform Tawaf around the Holy Kaaba for the seven times. Tawaf is all about circling around the Holy Kaaba. Minimum time that Tawaf can take is 30 to 45 minutes and maximum can goes to 1 to 2 hours depends on the one’s physical fitness and health.

3. Sa’ee – Sa’ee performed between the hills of Safa and Marwah. It can also take 1 to 2 hours for its performance (seven rounds between the hills). Here time management depends on the distance and number of people.

4. Qasr – This last step will mark your Umrah to its completion stage. Qasr is all about cutting or shaving the hair of head. It can take 30 minutes to maximum of 1 hour to complete.

So, overall Umrah rituals can take 5 to 6 hours for its completion. It can vary depends on the pilgrim’s physical condition, mental preparation, first-timer or seasonal pilgrim, etc.

After making schedule for rituals, it’s time to manage time for other acts and worships during Umrah day.

Utilizing your Time Wisely

  • For prayers, supplications, contemplation, and Duas you have to utilize your time effectively. For sure, these are also the core parts of your pilgrimage. You can utilize the less crowded periods for these.
  • If you are in holy places during the crowded periods then keep patience and maintain positive attitude, especially during the off-peak season.
  • If you are travelling with your family then delegate tasks, for example, fetching water and managing belongings. This free up your time for worship.
  • For wisely time management, use digital apps for prayer timings and recitation, etc. However, they don’t become a distraction.
  • Put your digital devices such as mobile phone on silent mode to avoid distractions.
  • Plan a separate day for shopping in holy cities.

You will get many chances during your trip to make most of your purpose which is Umrah. For each act, you will need items for a particular purpose. So, packing essentials and what to bring with you during Umrah matters a lot.
