   In recent years, there has been a trend of self-help and with trends come materialistic bought goods. The shift of change from religion to at home practices is more than ever before. Individuals are craving a sensual desire that healing crystals can provide, and a tangible object that can be displayed and or carried with a person. There is no scientific evidence that crystals hold the healing powers that is advertised when browsing the local metaphysical shop, but this has not slowed down the rising trend of utilizing healing crystals. Healing powers or not, crystals are beautiful and obtain an energy from the earth. Here are 5 fun facts you should know about healing crystals:

   1. Crystals are the definition of practicing self-help 

   Self-help is the desire to deal with or handle by oneself, spiritual or religious beliefs as well as growing within one's identity. Owning these crystals, having these stones with you at all times or having it within your sacred space is a very personal attachment. With this personal attachment you can find yourself treating the crystals as an essential piece to your puzzle of spirituality. When purchasing a crystal one will be drawn to or pick out a crystal that is seen beneficial in their life at that time. This practice is focusing on exactly what is wounded or needing to grow, based on your own judgement. Much different than listening to someone talk about something you have to find relevant in your life too. Crystals allow for a personal experience as well as a beneficial one as long as the intentions are set in place. 

   Self-help is what I believe will change the world and the way people treat others. Through practicing self-help, I have bought many crystals and worked with them in my free time. I focus my spirituality around connecting with the crystals in a way of uncovering my soul-level self. I find it more beneficial to me, than going to sit in a room full of people and listening to a lecture that may not direct me anywhere. I am aware of what goes on inside of my brain and in my heart, I am the only one that can determine what needs to be healed. In this, there is beauty to understanding that we can help ourselves better than anyone can. With this, we can make massive changes to better ourselves and heal past wounds. 

   2. Sensual desires can and will be fulfilled

   Sensual desire as well as the desire to be connected to our own spiritual state are two driving factors behind the healing crystal movement. As humans we have a longing for tangible materialistic objects that give us a sense of satisfaction. Human beings look for instant gratification, due to our fast pace environment and the takeover of technology. Need to say something? Just press send and another human receives your message instantly. We are conditioned to look for fulfillment of our desires in convenient, quick ways. Crystals are tangible objects that from the moment of purchase have a sensual meaning to individuals. The desire to have what people perceive as beautiful crystals and simultaneously create such an impact on their lives is beyond the hype of it all. There is a want to obtain crystals of personal use due to the spiritual essence as well. To be able to have such a powerful (what feels as if), force inside your house, car, or on your person is a desirable spiritual presence.   

   To want gratification of the senses is the easiest way to understand sensual desires if you ask me. Crystals being a tangible object could gratify most of our senses if not all. My personal favorite is citrine, this is the crystal for manifestation and abundance. Holding the crystal and placing it on my body somewhere, I am able to touch and feel it. I am able to feel the earthly energy flow through it. I am also able to see it and observe all the characteristics it obtains. This sensual desire is formed as soon as we are born, and with that childlike mindset, we find comfort in sensory objects. To have crystals inside my home, is a constant reminder that I come from this earth and that is where I will return one day. Crystals provide me a way of satisfying my sensual desires while working on myself in the process. 

   3. Disappearance of organized religion could be a bi-product of crystal popularity

   For years, religious practice has been on a decline throughout most of the United States. Self-proclaimed Christians is the category that 86% of Americans in the 90s would place themselves in. A new study shows that about 69% of Americans as of 2019 would categorize their spirituality as a Christian practice. This steady decline of interest in going to church on Sunday’s and a massive decrease in the number of bibles bought, or downloaded raises an eyebrow and pokes at the question, is organized religion disappearing?   

   Organized religion will never disappear, due to the foundations of it all. There are many beliefs on this earth and all are valid until told otherwise, in my opinion. Many truths inside of many truths, which gets confusing. I like to call this practicing an open mind, being open to any idea being true and hearing out what others believe to be true. All very healthy, and could be the reason why organized religion will not disappear, but continue to see a decline. As 21st century humans, we are all with the trends and see the world shifting in a positive direction. The most beneficial trend is playing out in front of our eyes and it is responsibility for oneself. With the decline of organized religion we can see that people are focusing more on themselves. Their practices turn to healing crystals, meditation, and yoga. Self-reflection is the new prayer, though I do believe everyone prays in their own way. The trend is self-help and the focus is on individuals to dig deep and better themselves, that is all we can control anyways. 

   4. Intentions must be set to see full impact of crystals

   As you purchase crystals and set intentions in place, this experience can manifest in a positive way. Intentions are necessary when it comes to the healing properties being carried out. When an individual creates a desired want for each stone to perform in their life, and practice this with consistence; this is when an intention is set and manifestation begins. The belief that this “rock” will bring an abundance into your life (citrine) can only manifest in positive abundance if the energy is put forth. With intentions set in place, it gives reason for reflection to take place as well. When purchasing the crystals, there is usually a draw to specific stones within the store. This could be for many reasons; the appearance of the stone is usually a driving factor. That goes back to the materiality and the desire to have a sensual connection to the crystal. Our human eyes are drawn to objects, places, and people that satisfy it and or bring attention to our creative mind. The beauty of crystals will drive individuals to purchase, and to decorate their home, and or work space with these pieces. Intentions may not be set in an instance like this and the stones are being utilized for their looks instead of putting energy into setting healing intentions.

   An energetic draw to certain crystals is what a lot of spiritually inclined individuals say makes them purchase specific stones. As you walk into a metaphysical shop or wherever the local crystals are sold, it can be quite overwhelming. Beautiful, elegant stones surrounding you, with a bunch of tiny labels telling you names and healing properties found in each stone. Spiritually driven individuals believe that humans will be drawn to stones that their inner self is longing for. Many people are beginning to practice this type of spiritual growth to enhance their intuition, so that these crystals make an impact as such. From the moment of purchase to the time the crystal is put into action, it is a self-fulfilling spiritual journey. Based off of an individual’s wants, needs and desires crystal healing is a practice of self-growth and change. Personalized by the crystals that are bought and the intentions that are set in place.

   Craving a connection to the Earth that gives human life, and the place where we continue to house ourselves is another spiritual desire of healing crystals. These beautiful stones may not hold the self-healing properties that are promised on the cards in the shops, but they possess an energy from the Earth. Crystalized over thousands of years, these stones have been soaking up and radiating Earthly energy. Said energy is very similar, if not identical to energy that flows through the human body. By putting the stones physically on your body while using that energy to manifest through the earthly connection, one can find similarities. Human beings are beautiful, simple creatures that have a spiritual energetic connection to the earth. Through this connection with intentions set we are able to grow into the soul-level versions of ourselves.

   Using the stones to focus on aspects that we long to heal, the crystals serve a purpose.
