Lana Del Rey is in hot water this week after the singer opted for a sparkly mesh face mask during a surprise meet-and-greet for her new poetry book at Barnes and Noble in Los Angeles, a hot spot for the virus.
The "Summertime Sadness" singer shared a video on Instagram of her from the signing wearing the ineffective mask where she interacted with fans and posed for photos. Many people were outraged and called her out on social media, urging her to wear a more protective cloth or paper mask, which has been shown to greatly reduce the risk of transmission of coronavirus.
Lana Del Rey's sister, Caroline Grant, claims Rey was standing six-feet away from others and had tested negative before the signing. This, of course, would not have protected Lana from any contagious fans that might have attended the event.
Lana has yet to respond to the claims and has remained silent since the claims have been made.
The state of California has been deemed a particular hot spot for the virus, with over 800,000 reported cases and 16,000 deaths linked to Coronavirus in the last few months. All residents are required to wear face masks in social ares where they may interact with others.
