DISNEY IN BREACH OF CONTRACT?

DUAL RELEASES CAUSES PROBLEMS!

                                 DISNEY IN BREACH OF CONTRACT?

Sources extrapolated from are as follows:
       “The Hollywood Reporter”, “Vanity Fair”

Scarlett Johansson has filed a lawsuit against Disney on the grounds that she claims could have lost tens of millions of dollars in revenues. The claim is that the movie “Black Widow” was released and streamed on the internet, ex. Amazon.com simultaneously. The can of worms. That has been opened could trigger many lawsuits in the not so near future. There is a new war she must contend with. What has come of this is that there is a fear of massive backend deals.
Disney is using the pandemic as a scapegoat and call Johansson greedy! Hollywood insiders chime in saying that it was bad judgement on Disney’s part. CEO Bob Chapek and top communications officer Zenia Mucha are reportedly on the hunt with lawyers in tow! It seems that nobody is pointing the finger at Bob Iger though. A former Disney executive called Johansson’s attempts amateurish at best. Even a rival studio put their two cents in saying that it is unavoidable and ill advised.
That very same studio said that do they think with Bob Iger being on watch would allow a piece of talent to sue them? Disney is showing an indifference towards the star talent. It is reported that Kevin Feige is very displeased with the assault on one of its stars in the MCU. There was friction between Ike Perlmutter and Feige in the past. Talent is going to fight and will win and fight to keep them. Producer Jason Blum said that Johansson is doing a brave and courageous thing by challenging Disney. She is fighting for all talent as well!
The idea that agencies would collude would be illegal. When Warner-Media had moved its 2021 slate to HBO Max without warning the Warner’s got the memo and Hollywood struck back! Sizable checks were written while committing to an exclusive theatrical run for 2022. This whole concept could invariably turn into a domino effect.
Gabrielle Carteris, the president of the Screen Actors Guild backs up Scarlett Johansson. There have been very surprisingly reductions in expected compensations. She went on to say that it is unreasonable and unjust what they are trying to do to Johansson. Also, it has been recognized that Disney is blaming it on gender against Johansson. It had been reported that $50 million in backend compensation for Johansson.
Bryan Lourd co-founder of CAA said that Disney is shameful in their false accusations. CAA said that they have Johansson’s back. Women should stand up for themselves and fight for fair play and stop being victimized. SAG-AFTRA will and must continue to fight for equal rights for all their members.
