This year, the auction was held on 24 and 25 November in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.
This year’s IPL auction 2025 was the mega auction which is a chance for the 10 teams to make their team for the upcoming three seasons. 577 players were auctioned this year, which included 367 Indian and 210 overseas players. This year some players grabbed huge amounts of money while some remained unsold.
Teams and their Purse
Punjab Kings entered the auction with the highest purse having more than 100 crore rupees which is followed by RCB which had more than 80 crore rupees. PBKS and RCB have retained 2 and 3 players respectively and they have to prepare a whole new team in this auction.
Rishabh Pant
Lucknow Super Giants bought him at the whooping price of 27Cr. He became the most expensive player in the history of IPL history. LSG was looking for a captain and wicketkeeper and they got both skills in Rishabh.
Shreyash Iyer
PBKS came with a huge purse and invested 26.75Cr on Shreyash. He was the captain of KKR last year and won the title. PBKS wanted a leader and a reliable Indian batter and they got both in Shreyash.
Joss Butler became the most expensive overseas player, sold to GT for 15.75 Crore. And Vaibhav Suryavanshi became the youngest player to be bought at an IPL auction. He went to RR at 1.10Cr rupees.
Some big cricketers faced disappointment as they went unsold this year. David Warner, Johnny Bairesto, Prithvi Shaw, Kane Williamson, Tim Southee, and others are included in the list of unsold.
