As much as we'd all love to wake up one day and accomplish our dreams and desires overnight, it just isn't possible, you have to start somewhere basic, set very tangible and realistic goals for yourself. I say tangible because it's incredibly easy to see the future through rose colored glasses and unwittingly skip over some major details that might make or break your success. Although imagining your future could be a vision of prosperity, fulfillment, and living happily ever after, it can also be unimaginably overwhelming.
Where do you start? Is that really what you want? Will it make you happy? Will it financially sustain your lifestyle? Don't panic, breaking down all the necessary steps are much easier than it seems, let's get started on achieving those big dreams.
It isn't possible to constantly achieve everything you'd like without failure, it's a part of life that we just need to accept. Recognizing this early on will help you see that maybe it's not the quality of your work that's lacking, but it's quite simply, and unfortunately, the way things turn out sometimes. You can put all your effort into a project and emit so much passion that people can feel it when you enter a room, but if a positive outcome doesn't seem to be in the cards for you, make them be in the cards! Try again, tweak your idea, present your goals to new people or in a different format, do whatever you can to keep working towards that objective.
There are so many time relevant questions we should ask ourselves when working towards our goals.
Realistically how long do you estimate it will take to achieve this goal? Will it have longevity or will it look more seasonal? Is this something that will benefit you for the rest of your life? After you achieve your goal, will you want to continue pursuing it?
To take a step out of our shoes and see the situation from a wide lens will not only help in seeing the overall timeline of our goals and achievements, but it will also aid in reevaluating how long we'd like this goal to stick around for, and what we'd like to see happen now in comparison to 3, 5, maybe even 10 years do2wn the road.
Is it possible to jump two feet into your ambitions without any experience? Or do you need to do some research and gain experience beforehand? What type of experience might you need?
Asking these multi-pitch, opened ended questions can vastly help in narrowing down the details needed for your constructive path to joining long held aspirations into reality. While differing goals will change the look of your path it's always solid to begin local. Ask local stores if they would be open to volunteer work pertaining to your exact skill set! Emphasize what they would gain from this experience to really seal the deal.
Each day we hope to embody our daydreams, but first... dinner needs to be made, laundry hasn't been put away, and you just realized you forgot to fill up the car for the next day. Too often we forget our own potential because we're too afraid to just simply start! As a consequence, everyday mundane practices get jumped to the top of our priorities list and ahead of what could possibly invite waves of accomplishment and bona fide security in yourself, and your life.
Nothing will come at the right time, there will consistently be a reason not to do something, challenge that ingrained thought process and regain the power within yourself to achieve something you've wanted for as long as you can remember. It doesn't need to take much... just take action!
Acknowledging what's expected from you by others versus what you expect from yourself is timelessly important, it allows us to strip away all expectations imposed by those standing witness to your creation and it can refresh the eye to an unapologetic, soul thriving perspective. Making clear exactly what you intend to reap from this journey effortlessly aligns tasks that need to happen in order to rise to your own making.
By carrying out this ambition are you genuinely living in your authentic self and gaining know-how in fields you're passionate about? Or are you simply following the day to day simplicities that are null of ambition and stimuli?
It's become too easy to feel overwhelmed by what it could take to accomplish our goals, lets take a good breather and a step back to fully see the scope of what it takes to embody that utopic objective. With that victorious image fresh in your mind, ponder where a single step backwards from the goal would take you... An internship? Volunteer work? Making social connections? Sending a letter? Once you've decided, try it once more...then again, and again, until you find yourself at a realistic starting point to begin your journey.
A bunch of small steps seem like nothing, until they form a staircase.
If you find yourself often being chastised for your decisions, it might be best to keep your game plan quiet, there are fortunately endless in-person and online groups for every single niche out there. Surrounding yourself with healthy like-minded people has shown to increase confidence in personal living and often times can lead to a more quality project, or product, due to widely ranging ideas and concepts. Trust your gut, if you believe you're onto something great, don't let that spark die out.
Separating external influence via others from your own independent thoughts and beliefs about your future really is the core to finding that genuine satisfaction in achieving your goals. We're all born into this world with an array of challenges and blessings but, when you're able to put your best efforts in and tunnel vision your energy into your life with optimistic intent so much more becomes possible for you. Hollow out the nescient doubters in your life and stay connected to uplifting, supportive friends and family that authentically encourage your success.
